Go Green Rainforest Nursery
About Us

Welcome to GO GREEN RAINFOREST NURSERY’S websiteOur nursery draws inspiration from the amazingly diverse flora of our Great Southern Land, particularly it's eastern rainforest's. From the northern most tip of Cape York to southern Tasmania the east coast of Australia displays some of the best examples of rainforest diversity in the world.

From our earliest beginnings as a part of the Great Southern super continent of Gondwana, Australia has developed some of our world’s most amazing plants.

During the late Jurassic, early cretaceous Gondwana had a warm and moist climate where extensive subtropical rainforest developed over much of the landmass. At this time dinosaurs ruled the world but many weird and wonderful plants and animals began to evolve. It was a time on our planet of great richness in life.

Today rainforests cover only about 0.3% of Australia, however, this small area contains approximately half of Australia’s plant family’s and a third of Australia’s bird and mammal species. Time has changed the landscape greatly but the richness of life from Gondwana lives on in Australia’s rainforests.

Here at GO GREEN RAINFOREST NURSERY we hope to raise peoples interest in the magnificent diversity of Australia’s flora, in particular that of its rainforests and the fauna which calls it home. Australian rainforest plants are amazingly diverse and contrary to popular belief are easy to grow and generally require no more watering than other native plants as long as they are adequately mulched. Hopefully, through an appreciation of Australia’s diverse flora and fauna the remaining rainforests of Australia and their inhabitants will be around to be enjoyed for a very long time.

GO GREEN RAINFOREST NURSERY is a small family business that was established in 1999. Initially we started growing rainforest plants as a hobby and started selling them at markets from Caloundra to Gympie. In 2006 we expanded our wholesale production and started selling to nurseries throughout SE QLD. Due to the increasing demand we relocated our nursery in 2008 to its current location which has given us the ability to increase our production as well as open a retail outlet.

We currently grow and stock:

·     Rainforest trees and shrubs (many rare and endangered species)
·     Palms
·     Vines
·     Ferns
·    Bush tucker
·   Traditional natives (eucalypt, callistemon, banksia, grevillea, casuarina)
·    coastal plants
·    ground covers
·    aquatic plants, water lilies and lotus
·    grasses, sedges and rushes
·    wildlife attracting plants (inc koala food trees, Richmond Birdwing vine)
